TM Flow Testing at Hill Family Medicine
A non-invasive, in-office screening of circulation, nerve function, and autonomic nervous system regulation — several systems looked at in a single visit.
Circulation, Nerve & Autonomic Health Screening
Many symptoms begin quietly before they become obvious on standard testing. Cold feet, numbness, tingling, burning pain, dizziness, fatigue, poor exercise tolerance, sweating changes, blood pressure changes, or “something just feels off” may point toward early changes in circulation, nerve function, or autonomic nervous system regulation.
TM Flow testing is a non-invasive in-office screening that helps us look at several important systems at once. The TM Flow platform includes screening related to ankle-brachial index and volume plethysmography for peripheral artery disease, galvanic skin response related to sudomotor function, and photoplethysmography-based analysis used in autonomic nervous system assessment. (TM Flow System)
What TM Flow Helps Us Evaluate
TM Flow can help guide a conversation about:
- Peripheral circulation and possible peripheral artery disease risk
- Small-fiber nerve and sudomotor function
- Autonomic nervous system balance
- Cardiometabolic stress
- Neuropathy risk, especially in patients with diabetes, prediabetes, insulin resistance, or metabolic syndrome
- Symptoms such as numbness, tingling, burning, cold extremities, dizziness, fatigue, or exercise intolerance
An ankle-brachial index test is commonly used to check for peripheral artery disease, which occurs when narrowed arteries reduce blood flow, often in the legs. (Mayo Clinic) TM Flow also includes sudomotor testing, which looks at sweat-gland nerve function, a pathway that may be affected in autonomic dysfunction or small-fiber neuropathy. Who May Benefit From TM Flow Testing?
This screening may be helpful for patients who have:
- Diabetes or prediabetes
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- Smoking history
- Family history of cardiovascular disease
- Numbness, tingling, burning, or coldness in the feet
- Leg discomfort with walking
- Dizziness, lightheadedness, or heart-rate variability symptoms
- Fatigue or poor exercise tolerance
- Concern about neuropathy, vascular health, or metabolic risk
Why We Offer This Test
At Hill Family Medicine, we believe prevention begins with paying attention to subtle signals early. TM Flow testing gives us another way to look beneath the surface, especially in patients whose symptoms may involve circulation, nerve function, metabolic stress, or autonomic regulation.
The goal is not simply to collect data. The goal is to better understand your body, identify risk earlier when possible, and create a practical plan for protecting your long-term health.
What to Expect
The test is performed in the office and is non-invasive. Sensors and cuffs are used to collect information about circulation, skin response, and autonomic patterns. The results do not replace a full medical evaluation, and TM Flow is not used by itself to diagnose every vascular, neurologic, or autonomic condition. Instead, it gives us more information to decide what may need closer attention.
Depending on your results, we may discuss lifestyle changes, lab work, medication review, diabetes or cholesterol management, vascular evaluation, neuropathy workup, autonomic support, or referral to a specialist when appropriate.
